Garmin vívoactive® 6 Health & Fitness GPS Smartwatch
The vívoactive 6 is Garmin's best-value GPS fitness smartwatch — a lightweight 42mm AMOLED watch with 80+ sport profiles, PacePro pacing, running dynamics, on-watch music, and Garmin Pay. It delivers serious fitness tracking with Body Battery, HRV Status, sleep coaching, and nap detection — all with up to 11 days of battery life at just $299.99.
Our Take: The vívoactive 6 is the sweet spot of Garmin's lineup. At $299.99, it packs features that used to be reserved for $400+ watches — PacePro race pacing, running dynamics, running power, course following, and 80+ sport profiles — into a lightweight 36-gram watch with a bright AMOLED display and 11-day battery. It skips the premium extras (no ECG, no flashlight, no multi-band GPS, no speaker/mic), but for the vast majority of fitness-focused users, it covers everything you need. If the Venu 4 is the feature-complete lifestyle flagship, the vívoactive 6 is the smart-money pick.
Why you'd choose this model
- Same price as the vívoactive 5 it replaces, but with significantly more features — PacePro, running dynamics, running power, course following, compass, and 80+ sport profiles. Nearly half the price of the Venu 4.
- Massive expansion from the vívoactive 5. Includes run, bike, pool swim, open water swim, golf, HIIT, yoga, strength, Pilates, mobility, ski, and many more. Animated on-screen workouts guide correct form.
- PacePro creates grade-adjusted pacing strategies for your race course. Running power measures the effort you produce in real time. Running dynamics (ground contact time, vertical oscillation, stride length) help improve your form.
- Download playlists from Spotify, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, or Deezer for phone-free listening with Bluetooth headphones. Doubled from 4GB on the vívoactive 5.
- Up to 11 days in smartwatch mode. Up to 21 hours with continuous GPS. With always-on display, expect roughly 5 days. Dramatically outlasts Apple Watch, Samsung Galaxy Watch, and Google Pixel Watch.
- 1.2" AMOLED at 390 × 390 resolution with Gorilla Glass 3. Brighter than the vívoactive 5 — readable even in direct sunlight. Always-on mode available (reduces battery to ~5 days).
- Body Battery energy monitoring, HRV Status, sleep scoring with Sleep Coach, nap detection, all-day stress, Pulse Ox, Health Snapshot, women's health tracking, respiration, hydration, and morning report.
- At just 36 grams with the silicone band, the vívoactive 6 is one of the lightest full-featured GPS watches Garmin makes. Comfortable enough to sleep in and forget you're wearing it.

Who this watch is perfect for
- Fitness-focused users who want serious sport tracking without paying $500+ for a premium watch.
- Runners who want PacePro, running dynamics, and running power at the lowest possible price point.
- People switching from Apple Watch or Fitbit who want dramatically better battery life and deeper fitness metrics.
- Anyone who values Garmin's health ecosystem — Body Battery, HRV, sleep coaching — in a lightweight, everyday package.
You may prefer a different Garmin if…
- You want ECG, a flashlight, or multi-band GPS — step up to the Venu 4.
- You want wrist calls and a built-in speaker/mic — the Venu 4 or Forerunner 570 have speaker/mic built in.
- You need a barometric altimeter for real-time elevation — the Venu 4, Forerunner 570, or fēnix E all include one.
- You want preloaded maps and turn-by-turn navigation — look at the fēnix E or Forerunner 970.
- You want the smallest possible Garmin — the Lily 2 Active (38mm, 29g) is significantly more compact.

vívoactive® 6 — Frequently Asked Questions
What size does the vívoactive 6 come in?
The vívoactive 6 comes in a single 42mm size (42.2 × 42.2 × 10.9 mm). It weighs approximately 36 grams with the silicone band. There is no larger or smaller size option — if you need a different size, consider the Venu 4 which comes in both 41mm and 45mm.
Does the vívoactive 6 have a barometric altimeter?
No. The vívoactive 6 does not include a barometric altimeter. Elevation data is estimated after your activity using GPS data and professional elevation surveys in Garmin Connect. This means it cannot track floors climbed or provide real-time elevation gain during hikes. If you need real-time elevation data, consider the Venu 4 or Forerunner 570.
Does the vívoactive 6 have ECG?
No. The vívoactive 6 uses the older Elevate Gen 4 heart rate sensor, which does not support ECG. For ECG capability to detect atrial fibrillation, step up to the Venu 4 or fēnix 8 series.
Can you make phone calls on the vívoactive 6?
No. The vívoactive 6 does not have a built-in speaker or microphone. You can receive smart notifications and reply to texts on Android, but you cannot make or take calls from the watch. For wrist calls and voice commands, step up to the Venu 4 or Forerunner 570.
Does the vívoactive 6 have music storage?
Yes. The vívoactive 6 has 8GB of storage for downloading playlists from Spotify, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, or Deezer for phone-free listening with Bluetooth headphones.
How does the vívoactive 6 compare to the Forerunner 165?
Both are similarly priced everyday GPS watches. The vívoactive 6 adds music storage, Garmin Pay, PacePro, running power, running dynamics, course following, and 80+ sport profiles. The Forerunner 165 is more focused on core running metrics and has a slightly lower price. The vívoactive 6 is a more well-rounded everyday smartwatch; the FR 165 is a dedicated running watch.
What is PacePro on the vívoactive 6?
PacePro is Garmin's grade-adjusted pacing strategy feature. It creates a customized pacing plan for your race course that accounts for elevation changes, so you run the right effort on hills and flats. You upload a course and target time, and the watch gives you real-time split guidance throughout the race.
