Garmin Forerunner® 570 GPS Running & Triathlon Smartwatch
The Forerunner 570 is Garmin's mid-range GPS running and triathlon smartwatch, released May 2025 as the successor to the popular Forerunner 265. It features Garmin's brightest AMOLED display, the Elevate Gen 5 heart rate sensor, a built-in speaker and microphone for voice calls, multi-band GPS with SatIQ, and the full Garmin training analytics suite — including Training Readiness, Training Status, PacePro, Real-Time Stamina, and Garmin Triathlon Coach. Available in 42mm and 47mm sizes with an aluminum bezel, 8GB music storage, Garmin Pay, and up to 11 days of battery life in smartwatch mode.
Our Take: The FR570 slots between the FR265 and FR965 with a clear value proposition: the latest Gen 5 HR sensor, voice calling, Triathlon Coach, and Garmin's full training analytics suite at $50 less than the map-equipped FR965. The main tradeoff is no on-watch maps and slightly shorter battery than the FR265. If you want the newest hardware in a lightweight package and don't need maps, the FR570 is the sweet spot in Garmin's running lineup.
Why you'd choose this model
- Garmin's latest optical HR sensor with enhanced green, red, and infrared LEDs. Better accuracy in cold weather, high intensity, and varied skin tones than Gen 4 in the FR265 and FR965. Adds nightly skin temperature tracking.
- Built-in speaker and microphone for voice calls (when paired with phone), voice assistant access (Siri/Google Assistant), and audio alerts. Not on the FR265 or FR965.
- Larger and brighter than the FR265. The 47mm has a 1.4" screen (454×454) matching the FR970/FR965. The 42mm has a 1.2" (390×390). Excellent sunlight readability with always-on option.
- Includes Training Readiness, Training Status, Training Load, Training Effect, Real-Time Stamina, PacePro pacing, VO2 Max, Running Power, Running Dynamics, Performance Condition, and Load Ratio.
- 42mm (42g) for smaller wrists and 47mm (50g) for a larger display. Both share all features and the same $549.99 price. The FR965 and FR970 only come in 47mm.
- Triathlon mode with auto sport-change detection, structured multisport workouts, Garmin Triathlon Coach plans, and brick workout support. Switch sports with a single button press during race mode.
- GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou on multiple frequencies. SatIQ auto-selects the best mode to balance accuracy and battery. Superior positioning in urban canyons and tree cover.
- 8GB storage for Spotify, Deezer, or Amazon Music offline playlists. Garmin Pay for contactless purchases. Pair Bluetooth headphones and leave the phone at home.

Who this watch is perfect for
- Runners and triathletes who want Garmin's full training analytics without paying $600+ for maps they may not need.
- Athletes upgrading from a FR265 who want the Gen 5 HR sensor, voice calling, and Triathlon Coach.
- People with smaller wrists who need the 42mm option — not available on the FR965 or FR970.
- Anyone who wants music, Garmin Pay, and phone-free running at the mid-range price point.
You may prefer a different Forerunner if…
- You need on-watch maps — step up to the Forerunner 965 ($599.99) or Forerunner 970 ($749.99).
- You want the longest battery — the FR965 offers 23 days smartwatch / 31 hrs GPS.
- You want an ECG — only the Forerunner 970 has ECG in the Forerunner lineup.
- You're on a budget — the Forerunner 165 ($249.99) or Forerunner 265 ($449.99) share most core running features at lower prices.
- You want the simplest GPS running watch — the Forerunner 55 ($199.99) is a great entry point.

Forerunner® 570 — Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the Forerunner 570 and the Forerunner 265?
The FR570 upgrades the FR265 with the Elevate Gen 5 HR sensor (better accuracy in cold weather and high intensity), a built-in speaker and microphone for voice calls, an aluminum bezel (vs polymer), skin temperature tracking, Evening Report, Garmin Triathlon Coach plans, structured multisport workouts, Load Ratio, and 23 new sport profiles. The AMOLED display is brighter and slightly larger. Smartwatch battery drops slightly (11 vs 13 days for the 47mm) but GPS battery with music improves. MSRP is $549.99 vs $449.99.
Does the Forerunner 570 have maps?
No. The FR570 does not include on-watch maps or turn-by-turn navigation. For built-in topographic maps, step up to the Forerunner 965 ($599.99) or Forerunner 970 ($749.99).
Does the Forerunner 570 have an ECG?
No. Despite using the Elevate Gen 5 sensor, the FR570 does not support the ECG App. The ECG requires metal contacts on the caseback and a connecting wire to the bezel, which the 570 lacks. The Forerunner 970 does include ECG.
What sizes does the Forerunner 570 come in?
Two sizes: 42mm (1.2-inch AMOLED, 390×390, 42g) and 47mm (1.4-inch AMOLED, 454×454, 50g). Both sizes share identical features and are priced at $549.99.
Should I get the Forerunner 570 or the Forerunner 965?
The FR965 ($599.99) adds built-in topographic maps, a titanium bezel, Gorilla Glass DX, 32GB storage, and an exceptional 23-day smartwatch battery — but it uses the older Gen 4 HR sensor and lacks a speaker/mic. The FR570 ($549.99) has the newer Gen 5 sensor, voice calling, and a 42mm option for smaller wrists. Choose the 965 if you need maps and maximum battery life; choose the 570 if you want the latest sensor technology, voice calling, and a smaller case option.
Is the Forerunner 570 good for triathlons?
Yes. The FR570 includes a dedicated triathlon mode with auto sport-change detection between swim, bike, and run, structured multisport workouts, Garmin Triathlon Coach adaptive training plans, and brick workout support. Switch sports with a single button press during race mode. For on-watch maps during bike or run legs, you would need the FR965 or FR970.
Does the Forerunner 570 support music?
Yes. All FR570 models include 8GB of storage for offline music from Spotify, Amazon Music, or Deezer (subscription required). Pair with Bluetooth headphones for phone-free listening during workouts.
