Garmin Xero™ A1 Auto-Ranging Digital Bow Sight

The Xero A1 is Garmin’s entry point into auto-ranging digital bow sights — a bow-mounted laser rangefinder and LED targeting system that measures the angle-compensated distance to your target and provides the exact red LED pin for the shot, even at in-between yardages. Press the silent wired trigger at rest or full draw, and the A1 instantly ranges game up to 100 yards or reflective targets up to 300 yards. LED pins automatically adjust brightness to conditions and allow an unobstructed view of your target. Customizable for single-pin, multi-pin, or manual pin selection. IPX7 waterproof, 1-year battery life on 2 AAA lithium batteries, 14.7 oz. Available in right-hand and left-hand configurations. The A1 does not include dual-color pins, Laser Locate GPS, multiple arrow profiles, or shot dynamics — for those features, step up to the A1i or A1i Pro.

Our Take: The Xero A1 is the most affordable way to get Garmin’s auto-ranging technology on your bow. It does the core job brilliantly: press the trigger, get the exact distance, see the exact pin. No separate rangefinder. No guessing between pins. The red LED pins are bright from sunrise to sunset and completely unobstructed — no physical pins blocking your target view. At $799.99, it’s still a significant investment, but it’s $200 less than the A1i and $500 less than the A1i Pro. What you give up: no green pins (red only), no Laser Locate GPS integration, no multiple arrow profiles, no shot dynamics data. If you shoot one bow with one arrow setup and don’t need GPS game tracking, the A1 delivers the essential auto-ranging experience at the lowest price in the Xero lineup.

Why you’d choose this sight

  • Auto-ranging to 100 yds game / 300 yds reflective Built-in laser rangefinder measures angle-compensated distance and displays the exact LED pin for the shot. No separate rangefinder needed.
  • Red LED pins — unobstructed target view Bright red LED pins are visible in any light. No physical pins to block your sight picture. Auto-brightness adjusts from sunrise to sunset.
  • Single-pin, multi-pin & manual configurations Use single-pin mode for one precise aiming point, multi-pin for a stack, or manually set your favorite fixed distances.
  • Silent trigger — range at rest or full draw Wired silent button mounts anywhere on your grip. One finger triggers the rangefinder with minimal movement. No noise to spook game.
  • Angle-compensated distance for uphill/downhill Automatically calculates the true horizontal distance to your target when shooting at an angle — critical for tree stand and hillside hunting.
  • 1-year battery / IPX7 waterproof / 14.7 oz Up to 1 year on 2 AAA lithium batteries. IPX7 rated for rain and snow. Lightweight at 14.7 oz — won’t unbalance your bow.
  • Lowest price in the Garmin Xero lineup At $799.99, the A1 is $200 less than the A1i and $500 less than the A1i Pro. Same core ranging and LED pin technology.
  • No subscription — all features included No app subscriptions, no recurring fees. Everything works out of the box with the included trigger and mount.

Who this sight is perfect for

  • Bowhunters who want auto-ranging accuracy without the premium price of the A1i or A1i Pro.

  • Budget-conscious archers looking for the core Xero experience — range, pin, shoot.

You may prefer a different Xero if…

  • You want dual-color pins (red + green) for faster distance identification — step up to the A1i ($999.99).
  • You need multiple arrow profiles for different setups — available on the A1i and A1i Pro.
  • You want Laser Locate GPS integration to mark where your target was when you shot — A1i or A1i Pro.
  • You want micro-adjustable rails, auto pin-stack calibration, and quick-detach mount — A1i Pro ($1,299.99).
  • You shoot a crossbow — the Xero X1i ($1,799.99) is designed for bolts with 3.5x magnification.

Legal notice: Some jurisdictions regulate or prohibit the use of electronic bow sights and crossbow scopes for hunting. The Xero does not project visible light toward the target — the laser rangefinder uses infrared light. Always check your state's current hunting regulations before use.

Xero™ A1 Auto-Ranging Digital Bow Sight — Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the Xero A1 and A1i?

The A1i adds dual-color LED pins (red and green), Laser Locate GPS integration for marking target locations, multiple saved arrow profiles for different setups, and shot dynamics data. The A1 has red-only pins, no GPS, one arrow profile, and no shot dynamics. The A1 is $799.99; the A1i is $999.99.

Is the Xero A1 legal for hunting in my state?

Legality varies by jurisdiction. Some states restrict electronic sights, laser rangefinders on bows, or illuminated pins for hunting. The Xero does not project visible light toward the target — it uses infrared. Always check your state’s regulations.

How does the auto-ranging work?

Press the silent trigger at rest or full draw. The built-in laser measures the angle-compensated distance and illuminates the exact LED pin. Range game up to 100 yards or reflective targets up to 300 yards.

How long does the battery last?

Up to 1 year on 2 AAA lithium batteries. Lithium is required — alkaline and NiMH batteries do not provide enough power for auto-ranging. The sight has a 24-hour auto-shutoff.

Can I upgrade from the A1 to the A1i later?

The A1 and A1i are separate devices — there is no firmware or hardware upgrade path between them. However, the A1 mount is compatible, so switching to an A1i or A1i Pro uses the same riser bracket.

Does the A1 have multiple arrow profiles?

No. The A1 supports a single arrow profile only. If you shoot multiple arrow configurations, the A1i and A1i Pro allow you to save and switch between profiles.
