Frequently Asked Questions

Which Omron blood pressure monitor is the most accurate?

All Omron monitors we carry are clinically validated. The most consistent per-session results come from models with multi-reading averaging. The BP7465 uses TruRead (automatic 3-reading average) and the 907XL uses a professional averaging protocol — both deliver the most reliable per-session data. Any model used correctly with a proper-fitting cuff will give reliable results.

What is AFib screening and which Omron monitors have it?

Omron’s AFib screening detects irregular pulse patterns during a blood pressure reading that may be consistent with atrial fibrillation. It is not a medical diagnosis, but it can flag readings worth discussing with your doctor. Among our 7 models, only the BP7465 (10 Series) and BP7360 (7 Series) include AFib screening.

What is TruRead and why does it matter?

TruRead is an Omron feature exclusive to the BP7465 that automatically takes 3 consecutive readings at set intervals and averages them in a single session — without pressing the button again. The first reading of a session is often slightly elevated. Averaging 3 readings taken 30–60 seconds apart gives a more representative result than a single reading.

Is a wrist monitor as accurate as an upper arm monitor?

A wrist monitor can be accurate when used correctly — the wrist must be held at exact heart level throughout the measurement. Upper arm monitors are more forgiving because natural arm position is closer to heart level. For home monitoring where consistent technique isn’t guaranteed, upper arm is typically recommended. The BP6350 is best for travel or users with limited upper-arm mobility.

What size blood pressure cuff do I need?

Measure your upper arm midway between shoulder and elbow with a soft tape. Most Omron upper-arm models cover 9″–17″ (22–42 cm). If your arm is larger than 17″, consider the 907XL which supports an extra-large cuff. A cuff too small reads artificially high; too large reads artificially low — correct fit is one of the biggest accuracy factors.

What is the Omron BP9310T (Evolv)?

The BP9310T Evolv is a tube-free, all-in-one wireless upper-arm monitor. The cuff, pump, and display are in a single unit with no external tube, making it easier to apply and more portable. It connects via Bluetooth to the OMRON connect app and is clinically validated. It does not include AFib screening or TruRead.

What is the Omron 907XL used for?

The 907XL is a professional-grade upper-arm monitor suited for clinical, pharmacy, and medical office use, as well as home users who want that level of build quality and accuracy. It supports multi-reading averaging, a large backlit display, and an AC adapter. Unlike the consumer models, it does not include Bluetooth or app syncing.

Do all Omron monitors work with the OMRON connect app?

All models except the 907XL connect to the OMRON connect app via Bluetooth for unlimited reading storage, trend charts, and easy data sharing with your clinician. The BP6350 also supports Amazon Alexa voice queries about your readings.
