Garmin Venu® X1 GPS AMOLED Smartwatch – Fitness Tracking, Health Monitoring & Smart Features
Garmin's flagship lifestyle smartwatch: 2″ sapphire crystal AMOLED, preloaded maps with turn-by-turn navigation, wireless Qi charging, titanium caseback, multi-band GPS, LED flashlight, speaker/mic for wrist calls, 8-day battery. 51mm. $699.99.
Our Take: The Venu X1 is the watch Garmin designed for people who want one device for everything — daily wear, workouts, navigation, and smart features — without wearing a bulky outdoor watch. The 2″ sapphire AMOLED is the headline: it's genuinely large, vivid, and practically unscratchable. But the real differentiator over the Venu 4 is preloaded maps with turn-by-turn navigation — no other Garmin lifestyle watch has this. Wireless Qi charging and a titanium caseback round out the premium package. The tradeoff is battery: 8 days is strong for this display size, but the Venu 4 gets 12 and the Venu 3 stretches to 14. If you can live with weekly charging and want the best screen and navigation in a lifestyle form factor, the X1 is unmatched.
Why you'd choose the Venu X1
-
The largest display in Garmin's lifestyle lineup — 454 × 454 pixels at 2.0 inches diagonal. Sapphire crystal lens is virtually scratch-proof (harder than steel). The Venu 4's 1.4″ Gorilla Glass and Venu 3's 1.4″ feel noticeably smaller side-by-side.
-
Full preloaded color maps with on-wrist turn-by-turn navigation for runs, rides, and hikes. No phone needed. The only Garmin lifestyle watch with maps — the Venu 3, Venu 4, and vívoactive 6 all lack mapping.
-
Place on any standard Qi wireless charging pad — no cable needed. Also includes a proprietary Garmin cable for faster charging. The only Garmin GPS smartwatch with Qi wireless charging.
-
At just 7.9 mm thick and 34 g (body only), the X1 is Garmin's thinnest watch. Titanium caseback provides durability, corrosion resistance, and a premium feel. The Venu 4 uses a metal case but weighs 56 g.
-
Built-in speaker and microphone for making and receiving phone calls via Bluetooth. Also supports voice assistant. The Venu 3 and Venu 4 also have this; the vívoactive 6 does not.
-
Built-in LED with white light for visibility and red light for night vision. Activated from the watch face. The Venu 4 also has this; the Venu 3 and vívoactive 6 do not.
-
Multi-band GNSS for improved positioning under trees and in urban canyons. 100+ preloaded activity profiles including running, cycling, golf, swimming, strength, HIIT, skiing, and more. Training Readiness, Garmin Coach, and ClimbPro included.
-
Body Battery, HRV Status, nap detection, health trends logging, sleep coaching, Pulse Ox, stress tracking, women's health, VO2 Max, Training Readiness, and ECG — all free in Garmin Connect. No monthly fee ever.
Who this watch is ideal for
- One-watch users who want Garmin's best display, maps, and smart features without wearing a bulky outdoor watch.
- Runners and cyclists who want turn-by-turn navigation on wrist without carrying a phone.
- Daily-wear buyers who want a premium look (sapphire, titanium) that works at the office and the gym.
- Wireless charging fans who want to drop the watch on a Qi pad at night instead of hunting for a cable.
You may prefer a different Garmin if…
- Battery life is your priority — the Venu 3 ($449.99) offers 14 days, nearly double the X1's 8 days.
- You want a smaller or lighter watch — the Venu 4S (41mm, 46 g) or Venu 4 (45mm, 56 g) are more understated.
- You want the best value — the vívoactive 6 ($349.99) delivers GPS, AMOLED, music, and Garmin Pay at half the price.
- You don't need maps or wireless charging — the Venu 4 ($549.99) has multi-band GPS with SatIQ, flashlight, and 12-day battery for $150 less.

Venu X1 — Frequently Asked Questions
What makes the Venu X1 different from the Venu 4?
The Venu X1 ($699.99) has a larger 2″ sapphire AMOLED vs the Venu 4's 1.4″ Gorilla Glass. The X1 has preloaded maps with turn-by-turn navigation, wireless Qi charging, and a titanium caseback — none of which the Venu 4 offers. The Venu 4 counters with longer battery (12 vs 8 days), SatIQ multi-band GPS, a smaller/lighter form factor, and a $150 lower price. Both have LED flashlights, speaker/mic, and the complete Garmin health suite.
Does the Venu X1 have maps?
Yes — the Venu X1 is the only Garmin lifestyle watch with full preloaded color maps and on-wrist turn-by-turn navigation. You can follow routes on runs, rides, and hikes without a phone. The Venu 4, Venu 3, and vívoactive 6 all lack mapping.
How long does the battery last?
Up to 8 days in smartwatch mode, 2 days with always-on display, 11 days in Battery Saver, 16 hours in GPS mode, and approximately 7 hours with GPS plus music. The 2″ AMOLED drives higher power consumption than smaller displays, which is why the Venu 4 (12 days) and Venu 3 (14 days) outlast it.
Does it have wireless charging?
Yes — the Venu X1 charges on any standard Qi wireless charging pad. It's the only Garmin GPS smartwatch with Qi wireless charging. It also includes a proprietary Garmin magnetic cable for faster wired charging when needed.
Can I make phone calls from the watch?
Yes. The Venu X1 has a built-in speaker and microphone for Bluetooth phone calls when paired with a compatible smartphone. The Venu 3 and Venu 4 also have this feature; the vívoactive 6 does not.
Is the display really scratch-proof?
The Venu X1 uses a sapphire crystal lens, which is the hardest transparent material commonly used in watches (9 on the Mohs scale — harder than steel). It's virtually impossible to scratch in normal use. The Venu 4, Venu 3, and vívoactive 6 use Gorilla Glass, which is strong but can scratch over time with impacts against hard objects.
Does it require a subscription?
No. Every health, fitness, and smart feature on the Venu X1 is free through the Garmin Connect app — Body Battery, HRV, sleep coaching, Training Readiness, ECG, Pulse Ox, and more. Garmin does not charge a monthly fee for any health feature. The Outdoor Maps+ subscription is optional and adds premium map content like satellite imagery and ski resort data.
How does it compare to the vívoactive 6?
The vívoactive 6 ($349.99) is Garmin's best value — it delivers GPS, AMOLED, music, and Garmin Pay at half the X1's price. The X1 adds a 2″ sapphire display (vs 1.2″), maps, wireless charging, titanium caseback, flashlight, speaker/mic, multi-band GPS, and advanced training metrics. Choose the vívoactive 6 as a first Garmin or if budget is the priority; the X1 if you want the best in class.
Is it good for golf?
Yes. The Venu X1 includes golf tools with preloaded course maps, green contour data, club tracking sensors, and scoring. It's not a dedicated golf watch like the Garmin Approach, but it's the most capable golf-capable lifestyle watch Garmin makes. The 2″ display is especially readable on the course.
What's in the box?
Garmin Venu X1 (51mm), ComfortFit nylon band (small/large), magnetic charging/data cable, and documentation. Qi wireless charging pad is not included — use any standard Qi pad you already own.
