Tap on lens is very similar to a touch screen in the sense that you tap on the lens to view exercise data, as opposed to using the smaller buttons on the side. While the entire device may not function as a touch screen, Tap screen technology does have its benefits, such as allowing you to lets you simply tap  the screen to activate.
