School, Doesn’t Have To Be, Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic!

We all know that our children have at their fingertips, the ability to view their favorite television shows, via their smartphone devices at any time of the day. Or with just their interacting with their friends on social media, they may Not be getting that recommended 60 minutes of exercise each day to help keep them fit and growing the way nature intended them to do.

The percentage of children with obesity in the United States has more than tripled since the 1970s. Today, about one in five school-aged children (ages 6–19) has obesity.
In fact, Childhood obesity rates are at around 17 percent for the past decade. Approximately 14 percent of children (ages 2 to 5) enrolled were obese. Nearly one-third (31.3 percent) of children ages 10 to 17 are overweight or obese. And 13.9 percent of high school students are obese.
Children with obesity are at higher risk for having other chronic health conditions and diseases that impact physical health, such as asthma, sleep apnea, bone and joint problems, type 2 diabetes, and risk factors for heart disease.

And unfortunately, children with obesity are bullied and teased more than those who are of normal-weight and are more likely to suffer from social isolation, depression, and lower self-esteem.
In the long term, childhood obesity also is associated with having obesity as an adult, which is linked to serious conditions and diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and several types of cancer.

Our kids, nephews, and nieces are becoming, say, a little wider then they should be. Well, Garmin, a name known for bringing fitness devices out of the gyms and onto your wrist has developed a way to make being active, a fun and cool thing to do with their new activity watch, that’s geared to the “Adolescent” generation.

The Garmin Vivofit Jr 2. activity watch is based on their favorite TV, or movie characters and allows them to match themselves against the activity program built into the watch to complete certain goals, which YOU can set in order that they can advance to the next level of fun-play.

Every day that kids meet their 60-minute activity goals, they advance in the kid-friendly adventure of their choice! Choose between Mickey’s Birthday Surprise, Ultron’s Revenge: A Marvel Avengers Mission, or BB-8’s Adventure: A Star Wars Story.

The app experience matches the style of band you choose. Get access to new adventures and more fun by purchasing additional bands and pairing them with the free parent-controlled mobile app.

Parents can manage their kid’s activity tracker by using the free app. Add multiple children, and see their steps, sleep, daily activities and chore data when it syncs to your mobile device. So you see, this activity monitor helps you to monitor your child's activities throughout the day and see their progress so that you can help motivate them, to keep them excited about reaching new levels as goals.

So, what are you waiting for, take that video game controller away and put their smartphones up on a shelf or turn off your wyfy for 1-2 hours and let them strap on that Garmin Vivofit Jr 2
