Product Reviews for Wahoo Cycling Speed-Cadence Sensor
What is the Wahoo Fitness bicycle Speed and Cadence Sensor?
A device that determines your tire rotation rate (speed) and pedal rotation rate (cadence).
How do I use it?
Attach the Speed/Cadence Sensor to the top of the rear chain stay on the side opposite the drive train - with the Speed Sensor to the back, Cadence Sensor toward the front. Test fit so that the Cadence Sensor is aligned 3/4 up the crank arm (toward pedal) when the crank arm passes the rear chain stay and then extend the Speed Sensor back so that the tether is fully extended.
To attach the Speed Sensor, loosely clamp Speed Sensor to frame with two enclosed cable ties to the frame aligned to inside of the back wheel.
To attach Cadence Sensor, loosely attach Cadence Sensor with two enclosed cable ties to the frame closest to the pedal arm.
Attach Pedal Magnet. Place the Pedal Magnet on the crank arm so that it is aligned with the Cadence Sensor. Attach pedal magnet using two enclosed cable ties to the crank arm. Rotate Cadence Sensor toward Pedal Magnet so that it is as close as possible. Do not tighten cable ties until you test to ensure consistent readings.
Attach Spoke Magnet. Unscrew the Spoke Magnet and attach to a spoke by sandwiching the spoke between the screw/magnet and its plastic housing, ensuring it is aligned with the line on the Speed Sensor. Rotate Speed Sensor toward Spoke Magnet so that it is as close as possible.
Turn the crank several times to ensure each sensor is working and the magents are aligned properly. Tighten all cable ties.
How do I wake the sensor up?
Your Wahoo Fitness Speed/Cadence Sensor ‘sleeps’ with inactivity and ‘awakens’ when readings begin so a few turns of your bicycle crank are be required before the sensor begins emitting data.
How do I pair it with my device? Doesn't it need a tire size?
Each Wahoo Fitness Sensor has a unique identification code and can be uniquely paried with a display device or reader so that it will always be recognized when it is activated and within range. In addition, your Speed Sensor requires a tire size calibration to determine accurate speed information. Since each reader is unique, you should reference the instructions of your reader for pairing and sizing techniques.
How do I change the battery?
The battery in your Wahoo Fitness Speed/Cadence Sensor is located behind a cover on the back of your Sensor and can be replaced by placing a coin in the slot and turning the cover 1/4 turn counterclockwise. Replace with a 3 volt CR2032 battery (contact a local waste handling group for proper disposal of old battery). Wait 45 seconds before installing the new battery to ensure the electronics fully reset.
