In the Box

Body measurement features:

  • Automatic age-based target zone – bpm / %- To help you train safely and effectively, the training computer determines your heart rate target zone limits automatically according to your age-based maximum heart rate (220 minus age). The limits are determined either in beats per minute (bpm), as a percentage (%) of your maximum heart rate, or as a heart rate reserve (% HRR). See also Maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) and Manual target zone.
  • Average and maximum heart rate of training
  • Heart rate – bpm / %- Heart rate is the measurement of the work your heart does. Heart rate can be expressed as the number of beats per minute (bpm) or as a percentage (%) of your maximum heart rate.
  • HR-based target zones with visual and audible alarm You can define your target zones for a training session based on heart rate to help define the right intensity. When you are out of the preset zones, the training computer will give a visual and audible alarm.
  • HRmax (user set)
  • Manual target zone – bpm / %- This feature enables you to define the target zone as you want and is suitable for your training. You can set the target zone for your training as beats per minute (bpm), as a percentage of your maximum heart rate, or as a percentage of your heart rate reserve (HRR%).
  • Polar Fitness Test- Polar Fitness Test measures your aerobic fitness at rest in just five minutes. The result, Polar OwnIndex, evaluates your maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max). With the Polar Fitness Test you can measure your aerobic fitness by yourself, automatically and without any exertion. All you need is your training computer. The Polar Fitness Test is as accurate in predicting the VO2max as any sub maximal fitness test. The test is based on heart rate and heart rate variability at rest and personal information.
  • Polar OwnCal – calorie expenditure with fat percentage- Polar OwnCal calculates the number of kilocalories expended during training. This feature allows you to follow the kilocalories expended during one training session and cumulative kilocalories expended during several training sessions. Some Polar products also estimate the fat-burning percentage (fat% on display), that is, kilocalories expended from fat during a workout which is expressed as a percentage of the total kilocalories burned.
  • Polar OwnCode (5kHz) – coded transmission- Coded heart rate transmission automatically locks in a code to transmit your heart rate to the training computer. The training computer picks up your heart rate from your transmitter only. Coding prevents interference from other training computers.
  • Polar OwnZone – personal heart rate zone- Polar OwnZone determines your personal heart rate limits for a training session. Depending on the day and time, your physical state may vary, for instance, if you are stressed or tired, or if you are not fully recovered from your latest training session, Polar can determine that information from your heart rate and guide you to your ideal training zone for that moment.
  • Polar STAR Training Program- The adaptive and personalized Polar STAR Training Program helps you reach your training targets. The training program gives you weekly targets, including intensity and duration, for your training. The Polar STAR Training Program is based on your fitness level, activity level, training goal and personal information (weight, height, age and sex).
  • Training load – available via polarpersonaltrainer.com- This feature is available in Polar software. When you transfer training results from your training computer to polarpersonaltrainer.com, you can follow your training load and recovery in the training diary. Continuous monitoring of training load and recovery will help you recognize personal limits, avoid over- or undertraining, and adjust training intensity and duration according to your daily and weekly targets

Men's FT60 5 I've been using Polar heart rate monitors since the mid-1990s and have always had good success with them. This is now my 4th HRM from Polar. After my last Polar HRM died after years of use, I went without one for a few years - and really regretted it. I purchased the FT60 as it most closely matched my last Polar HRM - and is widely promoted by Shannon Sharpe on Twitter! I ordered it from HRM USA as they had the best prices. I put my order in on a Friday afternoon and it arrived in my mailbox the following Tuesday afternoon - not bad, especially with free shipping. It was a breeze - as usual - to enter all my information in the unit and get it started. Worked great - and have had no problems thus far with it. It picked up my heart rate right away - and I took it out for a run almost immediately....no problems at all. And, HRM USA was very helpful - I contacted them multiple times via online chat and they answered all my questions quickly and to my satisfaction. Now looking at getting another FT60 as a back-up as I use it 7 days per week....sometimes twice per day. Would highly recommend HRM USA and the Polar FT60.

FT-60 2 This watch definitely has a bug or something. It works a few minutes then it stops reading the Heart Rate. I have to stop it and restart. It then works for a few minutes and once again stops and says Check Heart rate monitor. Paid a lot of money for a unit that is intermittent. My FT-7 was much cheaper and better.

FT60 5 This is the first heart rate monitor I have owned. I can say that I really like the FT60. It is very useful in keeping a training record of all your workouts and calories burned. You can also add the foot pod and keep up with your running schedule. It will keep time of your run and distance. Great unit I will be ordering another unit for my wife.

Works Amazing! 5 I've had the Polar FT60 for about a week now. I am a very active person, and so I've used mostly everyday since I received it on the mail. I have not had any problems with the strap nor the H1 Heart Rate Sensor. It has worked very well for me. I absolutely love their Fittest app, and their Personal trainer app. It is very useful tool and I recommend it to anyone who's either an active, everyday person or just wants to workout in their 'zones' and nor under-work nor overwork. It is a very helpful tool to loose weight since it tells you accurately how many calories you have burned. It is most definitely worth the money to be healthy and fit!

FT60 5 The FT 60 works exactly as advertised. I wish I had bought one a long time ago. I now know exactly how much work I am doing and I am training harder every time I use it. Without a HR monitor, you are really only guessing. I haven't taken the time to discover all the features, but it was very simple to set up the basic parameters and start recoding my training sessions.

FT60 Transmitter a flop 1 I've now run with my new FT60 three times and have had noithing but problems with the transmitter. It either jumps around to wildly differing heart rates, locks up on one heart rate, or flips to no heart rate reading at all. I've repositioned the transmitter band, resoaked it, unsnapped it and restarted the program. The transmitter just doesn't work. I've got an FT7 and have had no problems with it ever. I'm very disappointed with the FT60 and would advise friends not to buy it.

Band or something isn't working 2 We ordered the Men's and Women's version of this. On the Men's when we try to exercise it always says check heart rate monitor. To test it out, I took hit Polar snap on section and attached it to my band. Works great. He uses it and it doesn't work at all. We walk together and unless I am across the road his device picks up my heart rate, assuming this is because his does not work correctly. Frustrating to have to call someone on this, to me this is a lot of money and I want it to work out of the box. I gave it 2 stars not just one because the watch itself was easy to set up.

Ft60 4 Good device for staying on top of stats both during and after workouts. Instructions are really lacking yet with a little work I was able to figure out setup.

Great sales and delivery times!

Online software is lacking yet better than nothing.

So far so good!

Polar FT60 4 I have owned the FT60 for three weeks. I have not used any other heartrate monitor other than what is build into my exercise equipment, but for my purposes the FT60 works well. It does occasionally give a false reading for 30 to 60 seconds in the middle of a workout my heart rate drops to about 50% of what it was at. I simply ignore this.

I would buy it again.

I use the FT60 as a heart rate monitor. I cannot figure out how it can calculate how many calories I have burned as it does not know what I am doing. I have not found the online material helpful, but I have not spent that much time investigating this.
