Its touch screen design is user-friendly and its features are powerful. A must for any serious athlete.

What's in the Box:

A Touch Faster:

Forerunner 610 gives you several ways to get in touch with your training data. The swipe and scroll action makes it easy to adjust settings, review your run history and more. A quick tap of the screen is all it takes to advance to the next training page so you can see more data.

The 610ís sleek touchscreen is as rugged as it is functional, proving itís more than just a pretty face. The 610 can stand up to rain, sweat and splashes, yet itís sensitive enough that you can operate it with running gloves.

Leader of the Pack:

Behind that smooth glass surface is a watch thatís ready to work as hard as you are. The 610 provides accurate distance, pace, GPS position, heart rateĻ, calories and more. It can even guide you back to the starting point of your run, giving you the freedom to explore new routes and always find your way back.

Advanced Features:

Training tools like the new Virtual Racer can turn any workout into a virtual matchup. This feature lets you race your previous bests or challenge any activities uploaded to Garmin Connect. Virtual Racer accounts for varying speeds and real-time conditions, so itís truly you vs. your opponent. Or, use the Virtual Partner function and see how you measure up to a static pace you set. Forerunner 610 also offers vibration alerts, which you can customize for time, distance, calories, heart rate or cadence. So, when you reach your targets, youíll feel a gentle vibration.

Training Effect (Optional Heart Rate Transmitter Required):

Itís time for a sport watch that can help you train smarter, not harder, and the 610 can do just that. Itís our first sport watch with the Training Effect capability from Firstbeat. Training Effect measures the impact of an activity on your aerobic fitness, which essentially helps you train more efficiently. Your Training Effect is calculated based on your user profile, your heart rate and the difficulty of the activity. The 610 also offers customizable heart rate zones, alerts and heart-rate based calorie computations.

Store, Analyze and Share:

When your workoutís done, Forerunner 610 keeps working. It wirelessly uploads your run data to Garmin Connect when in range of your computer so you can go back and review your run on your own time. It works via ANT+ wireless technology and the USB stick that comes with your watch. No wires, no manual uploads, no sweat. Lets will talk about the newest model of Forerunners to come out. The Forerunner 610.

This new model is Garminís first touch screen Forerunner unit. For any of you familiar with our Edge 800 cycling unit, this touch screen is similar to that. Unlike the typical touch screen devices out there, the Forerunner 610 is water-resistant and works well with sweaty fingers, in the rain and while wearing gloves.

The Forerunner 610 comes in black only and is available with or without heart rate (premium heart rate monitor). The cost is $349.99 without heart rate and $399.99 with HRM.

Some of the features of this new model are:
-Touch screen interface: This is optimized to prevent accidental touches while running. It works with sweaty or glove covered fingers. The touch screen is NOT sensitive to rain or sweat, so will not switch screens during a rain storm and will still work with wet fingers.
-Vibrate Alert: The watch will beep and/or vibrate when an alert occurs. This is great for those running in large groups, with music or any other reason that would make it difficult to hear just the beep. This feature works the same as on our Forerunner 310xt model.
-Virtual Partner: This is great for helping you pace a training run, tempo run or race. All you do is set the pace you want to run and you will be told how far ahead or behind you are by time and distance in real time. You can even change the pace during the run. One added change to this option compared to other models is that you can set an Alert if you go too far ahead or behind your set pace.

610
Virtual Racer: This is a new feature that is used to race against a set distance that either you or someone else has previously completed. It compares data along the way so if you ran 6 minutes for mile 1 and 7 minutes for mile 2, these are the paces with which you are compared. This is based off of a distance, not location, so you can race a marathon against a previous one you have done or one that a friend has done and they do not have to be the same marathon.
Run/Walk Alert: This is a new feature that allows the user to set timed interval breaks for running and walking. For example, you can set the watch to let you know when you have run 3 minutes and then again when you have walked 1 minute. Auto Lap will not be turned off while this Alert is being used, so you can use this Alert and still get your mile splits with Auto Lap set to 1 mile. Unlike how this was done in the past by using Interval Workouts and having to set how many intervals you wanted to run/walk, this new feature has no set limit and continues until you stop the watch.
-Training Effect: This new feature measures the impact of an activity on your aerobic fitness. The watch will learn your aerobic fitness over the course of several activities with the value being between 1 and 5. The Training Effect value can only be determined while using a heart rate monitor.
610

-Battery life: Up to 8 hours in GPS mode and 4 weeks in power save mode (Time of Day screen). You will get approximately 1 week of battery life if the watch is used in GPS for 45 minutes a day and power save mode the rest of the time. You can shut off the watch completely to conserve battery life by holding in the Power/Light button.
-Cycling: You can change the sport to cycling and setup all the same types of alerts and screens like you did for the running sport. If you setup the cycling screens to not be hidden, then you can quickly jump between your running screens and cycling screens by holding in the Reset button while in the Timer screen with the Timer being reset to 0. This watch is compatible with the GSC 10 bike sensor. -Data Recording: You have the option to use Smart recording (records key points where you change speed, direction or heart rate) or Every Second recording (This creates a very detailed record of your activity, but it greatly increases the size of the activity filling up your watch memory faster).
-Navigation: You can navigate back to a saved location (your parked car) or navigate back to start (this will redirect you in the opposite direction you ran to that point).

Some additional features: -There is an optional Velcro wrist band accessory. -The ANT+ Foot Pod is compatible for indoor running and cadence. -Compatible with ANT+ weight scales and fitness equipment. - There are 4 customizable screens of 1 to 4 fields per screen for both the Running and Cycling sports. -Unlike with our past models, you can change a data field directly in training mode (No need to go into Menu, Setup, Training PagesÖ). By pressing and holding a data field, you will be given the opportunity to change the selected data field with any other data field option.

The Forerunner 610 would fall somewhere between the Forerunner 410 and 310xt. Unlike the Forerunner 310xt, the 610 is not waterproof and will not work with power meters.

Garmin 610 4 I've been using the Garmin 610 for almost 18 months now. The worst thing about the watch so far has been the watch case. I sweat quite a bit and I try to wash the watch off every time I use it , but the back of the watch that has skin contact with your wrist has corroded quite a bit. A metal back on this watch was not a good idea. Shortly after I got the watch, the wrist band pits kept sliding out. I called Garmin and they sent me a new band and pits and I haven't had a problem since. The function I've used most is the virtual partner for races. I wouldn't use the watch as a stand alone. By that I mean you should buy the foot pod too. First of all you need it for any treadmill/indoor workouts. Secondly, you have to realize that a GPS, regardless of who makes it will have problems in some areas with reception, forests, hills, etc. During a race, I use the footpad as my primary speed source otherwise your chasing a constantly changing speed. I have 5 years of workouts and data stored on the Garmin Connect website. On the website you can build a course which is great because it's give you the elevation of hills before you run them. Another downside of the Garmin 610 is trying to build a custom workout. I like it when I'm doing intervals. Like most guys, my fingers aren't very skinny so building multiple steps in a workout can be somewhat tedious. That being said, once you build a workout, don't erase it from the watch so you'll have it the next time. It works well with sweaty hand or even in the rain when you're trying to use the touch screen. I wish it had a meter of some kind that you could tell how much battery charge was left. The only way you can tell is to plug in the charger. I've really put this watch through a lot. Even knowing the problems that I've talked about, I've got my moneys worth out of this watch. I'd probably spend a few more dollars and buy the 910XT though.

Garmin Forerunner 610 5 First, about the seller. I was very impressed with Heart Rate Monitors USA. Not only did they not charge tax, but they included free next day delivery for this item. I'm not sure of the numbers, but I would guess next day delivery for a 1 lb. package is in the -80 range. It arrived as promised and everything was in order. It was a refreshing experience especially for one that is wary of making large purchases online.

I am thrilled with the watch. It is intuitive and packed with useful features. I think that Garmin is emulating Apple a little with their simple yet smart design. There are so many things that I like about this watch and I don't have room to discuss them here. Suffice it to say that it makes running far less of a chore which I love.

I did have a little trouble with small distance inaccuracies but I contacted Garmin and they were very responsive in helping me upgrade the software and performing a master reset. I haven't had issues since. Also, the instruction manual is not clear at all in providing instruction for setting up the wireless transfer system. After some digging, I found that one needs to download the ANT Agent from http://connect.garmin.com/help/start/ant. After that it was smooth sailing.

I was hesitant in spending the extra money on the heart monitor but I haven't been disappointed. It is not uncomfortable to wear and I love knowing my heart rate, burned calories and training effect.

As you can tell, I would definitely recommend this product.

Has some issues 3 There are features that wow me about the watch GPS, autolap vibration, touch screen and then other issues that are very frustrating. These issues include issues with the heart rate monitor spiking or when it is very hot it records at very low rates no matter the tightness or position of the strap. In addition, the outside connectors for charging corrode from sweat and causes charging issues and the location makes them hard to reach and clean. Finally, the program to sync with the computer is hit and miss and has a lot of bugs. Not sure if I would buy this again, but does have some new features that keep me from returning it.

Garmin Forerunner 610 3 Nice watch, but definately some issues to be worked out. The pins that secure the band are very thin and bend easily when you try to spin the watch on a sweaty wrist. Once the pins are bent and the rubber on the band is stretched the band comes loose apart very easily. Can't fix it and no cloth band available for this unit. I had to use electrical tape to secure mine so it dosen't come apart when I run. My unit is very difficult to get out of the sleep mode. The screen doesn't respond the way it's supposd to. I have to shut the unit down and start over. The heart rate monitor spikes all the time. I bought the newest heart rate strap that was supposed to eliminate this problem. Still does it almost every run. Same strap does not spike when used with my Edge 500. This is a really nice watch with great features, but Garmin needs to work out the bugs on something their selling for this kind of money.

Greatest thing since the slicing of bread 5 This watch is everything I ever wanted in a GPS watch. I have never had a forerunner before. But I have owned three Garmin GPS's since 1997.

It sets up just like any other Garmin. I did have slight problems with connect.garmin.com and logging in. To fix I just started using Google Chrome as my browser and have had no more problems.

As a workout item, great! I know longer have to carry my eTrex and my timex with me to know how far I've gone, time, speed, etc... I have also used it for Geocaching and it works great. Just like any other Garmin GPS.

So many features to talk about. This thing is great and to find anything wrong with it would just be nitpicking.

Also, heart rate monitor USA; only place I could find it that had it in stock. Thanks guys!

charges in reverse 5 I just received my Garmin 610 in mail yesterday. I attempted charging it but it charged in reverse with the battery level actually decreasing the longer it was on charger until now it is dead and will not charge at all. I had a flashing Garmin on the screen for a while now it is a bad pixellation screen that I am getting. Not a good start Garmin for me. I was expecting much more for the price.

Garmin ForeRunner 610 5 Love this watch!
The features are not that far different from the previous 410 or 405. But the new vibrate feature is awesome.
I really like that feature especially when the lap reminder is turned on it's on by default it shows you the time you have done for that lap.

The battery also seems to last longer vs the previous models due to the power saver option.

Size wise if you are used to 405/410 it wouldn't make that match difference. The build feels a little more sturdy now.

The downside of the 610 vs the 405 is that you don't get the Velcro bands, and the charger only comes with the US adapter. Both of which came with the 405. So if you need them you need to buy them separately.

Regarding shipping: I think HRM is compatetive in term of pricing and the deliver was fast and exactly as was promised.

It tooks them 2 days to ship it out and 2 more days to get to my door.

garmin 610 1 Already had to return the watch to Garmin after 3 uses. The unit rarely synced with my laptop, and when plugged into the charger, the battery actually drained.

Garmin tech support blamed my antivirus for the sync issue, and did not know how to fix the battery issue. Now they are on backorder from Garmin thru July. I learned my lesson with Garmin products...let someone else be the test pilot.

Very unhappy.

Garmin 610 5 Like this watch VERY MUCH!! i ordered it from this site and it shipped the same day!!! It was due for a 1-2 day FREE shipping, but i got it in 1 day. SO basically, it was overnight shipping for FREE!!!

If i ever need anything i'll get it from here again.

Now onto the watch, works well... i've heard some complaining about the gps system... but it works just fine. Love this watch, the vibrating is cool for when im listening to my ipod during runs. Also, i like that i can edit the different fields for WHATEVER i want to see during my runs.... also, did i mention this thing is TOUCHSCREEN so cool!!
