Train Smarter, Not Harder:
Whether you are training to complete your first 5k or you want to get faster and fitter, having accurate workout data is the key. Forerunner 110 uses GPS to accurately record your distance, time and pace. Data from each run is stored in the unit, so you can go back and review how you did last week or last month. Or, upload to our Garmin Connect website for more detailed analysis. Easy to Use:
Now there is nothing standing in the way of you and your run. Forerunner 110 is our simplest training device yet. Out of the box, you will charge it, take it outside to find GPS satellites and answer a few setup questions. Then just press start and take off. Once you are done, press stop. It really is that easy. Follow Your Heart:
Some versions of the Forerunner 110 (men's black/red and women's gray/pink) come with a heart rate monitor to display your heart rate in beats per minute. It also provides heart rate-based calorie computations so you can accurately track your calories burned. If you purchase the black/gray Forerunner 110 without heart rate, you can buy a Garmin heart rate monitor separately or use with an ANT+ heart rate monitor you already own. Store, Analyze and Share:
Beginning and advanced runners know that reviewing data from your run can be motivating and provide meaningful feedback for improvement. Tracking your data is simple with Garmin Connect, our website for free data analysis and sharing. Just upload to Garmin Connect from your PC or Mac, then see the route you traveled on a map, view a summary of your workout data, create goals and more. Fast and Accurate:
Forerunner 110 features HotFix satellite prediction, which means it locks onto satellites quickly so you can be out the door and on with your run in no time. It also has a high-sensitivity GPS receiver to stay locked onto satellites, even near tall buildings or under tree cover.
Note: Displays average pace over last lap. If auto lap is off, displays average pace over entire activity unless lap button is manually pressed.
Note: ANT+ wireless technology on this Forerunner works only with an ANT+ heart rate monitor, no other accessories.

GARMIN VIRTUAL PARTNER -
Displays an animated training partner who will run at the set pace, so you can see if you are keeping up or falling behind. Adjust your pace as you run to stay motivated.
The Forerunner 110 model was designed for the average runner who is looking to get basic information in a simple, easy to use small watch. With this model you will be given the Distance, Run Time and Average Pace (2nd image above). If you have a heart rate monitor, then you also will have a second screen which will have the Run Time replaced with Heart Rate (3rd image above). There are no customizable screens like all of the other Garmin watches. Because of this, all the customer has to do is hit the Page/Menu button to go into the run screen and the “Locating Satellites” bar comes up. Once the satellites have been acquired, the customer is ready to go. The typical customer is only looking for these few basic data fields. This is a great entry level GPS unit that many elite runners love to use as well.
Auto Lap is an available feature and defaults to 1 mile. When this is turned on, the Average Pace shown will be for the current mile. After each mile, the Average Pace will be reset to that current mile. When this is turned off, the Average Pace will be for the entire run or until the Lap button is pressed.
*Pace = Average Pace
This has been a big debate over this watch. I have seen all over the message boards people stating that the Forerunner 110 only gives average pace so it is no good. The fact is that no GPS or foot pod speed and distance monitor will give an accurate “Current Pace”. It is too difficult to get a smooth reading and you will see the current pace jumping all over. We have always recommended using “Average pace” on our other units because of this. I find it best to keep Auto Lap turned on and set to 1 mile. With this you will always be looking at your current mile “Average Pace”.
History: You can pull up your History to view a summary of each run. On the watch, you will only be able to see a summary. Within this summary you also will be able to see Calories burned for that run. The Forerunner 110 uses Heart Rate based calorie computation (via Firstbeat Technologies). If the user wants to see more detailed information on their run, they need to upload their runs onto either Training Center or Garmin Connect. The new Forerunner 110 uses a newer GPS receiver, which is smaller and uses less energy. With this new receiver, the battery life in power save (watch) mode is 3 weeks and 8 hours in GPS mode. The Forerunner 110 also features Hotfix satellite prediction, which means it locks onto satellites quicker so you can start your run faster.
With the newest firmware 2.2 on the watch, users can now turn the unit off to save battery life. It is important that users do not attempt to shut down the watch without having firmware 2.2 or higher, otherwise they can corrupt the files on the watch. By holding the Light button down for a few seconds, a message will pop up asking if you want to “Shut Down?”. If you select Yes, then the watch will turn off. By holding the Light button down for a few seconds while it is off will turn it back on again. If the customer is using Garmin Connect, they will be informed if there is a new firmware update. If they are not using Garmin Connect, they can manually update the firmware by going to the Forerunner 110 page on Garmin.com then clicking on the Software link on the right side.
