PACK CLEANING:
We recommend wiping your pack with a damp cloth to remove dirt. If the pack is extremely dirty and needs a deeper cleaning, soak it in cool or warm water with a very mild soap. Rinse the pack thoroughly with cool water. If soap residue remains in the fabric, it may create suds if exposed to water or sweat.
DO NOT wash your pack in a washing machine. Machine washing may damage the pack or affect the integrity of the fabric and fasteners, and will void the Got Your Bak Guarantee.
PODIUM BOTTLE CLEANING:
The Podium Bottle is dishwasher-safe and easy to clean. Remove the cap assembly, making sure the JetValve lockout is open, and place it with the bottle on the top rack of your dishwasher. Do not disassemble small parts of the cap, simply place the whole cap into the washer. Disassembly of the cap could lead to leaks or product malfunction. For best results, we recommend avoiding high-heat settings such as 'sanitary clean' or 'heat boost' which may distort plastic components. We don’t recommend forcing a brush or other cleaning tool through the JetValve cross-slit (i.e. where you drink).
We recommend cleaning the Podium Chill and Podium Ice bottles by hand using warm water and soap if desired. High heat from the dishwasher may distort the lightweight plastic bottle components. The Podium Chill and Podium Ice caps can be washed in a dishwasher.
I’m used to the CamelBak bite valve, where’s the bite valve on this bottle?
The Podium Bottle, Podium Chill and Podium Ice are designed specifically for cycling, offering optimum, hassle-free hydration via an innovative feature called the CamelBak Jet Valve. Made from medical-grade silicone and designed to flow automatically when you squeeze the bottle, the Jet Valve vents pressure and seals shut automatically when you’re done. It’s simple—no biting involved. So say goodbye to yanking your old pop-top bottle open with your teeth and bashing it shut on your hip, as well as bothersome drips and leaks.
OK, I get the JetValve, but do I still need to suck on the nozzle to drink?
It’s your choice. You can either put the nozzle between your lips, or just open your mouth and squirt. The JetValve opens automatically when you squeeze, then shuts automatically to prevent drips. Since there’s no pop-top valve to shut off, you can guide the nozzle into helmet vents easily without accidentally shutting off the valve.
Explain the lockout valve under the nozzle. Do I need to shut this off every time I drink?
No. The Jet Valve keeps your bottle sealed and drip-free during use. The rotary valve under the nozzle on the cap is actually a secondary lock-out. We recommend using the lock-out exclusively for storage, i.e. if you’re storing the bottle in a bike bag or trunk. Leave it open during rides or for easy access when you’re drinking from the bottle. You can also lock out your backup bottle on the bike to prevent any unexpected squirts from potholes or other big hits.
How does the Podium Chill Bottle insulation work?
The Podium Chill features a unique, low-profile double-wall construction with a layer of airtight, insulating foam. Compared to other insulated bike bottles that can be stiff or bulky (or both), the Chill bottle is lightweight, easy to squeeze, and fits a lot of water volume into a small space. That’s why we call it, “Cool without Compromise.”
Can I put sports drinks in the Podium Bottle or Podium Chill Bottle?
Absolutely. However, make sure to clean the bottle thoroughly after each use.
Can I use carbonated beverages?
Yes. The Jet Valve automatically vents pressure so that “fizz” will not cause pressure buildup. Please note, if the lockout is shut off, there will be pressure buildup, which isn’t dangerous, but could lead to unexpected spray when opened.
Can I put hot liquids in it?
No. However, warm beverages are OK, provided they’re not hot enough to burn your mouth. Extra-hot or boiling water can distort the plastic in the bottle, but warm tea in your Podium Chill Bottle or Podium Ice is a nice treat for a cold ride.
Is the bottle microwave-safe?
We don’t recommend heating the bottle in a microwave since contents can heat unevenly. We only recommend putting warm liquids in the Podium, Podium Chill and Podium Ice Bottles.
Can I freeze the bottle?
You can freeze the bottle, but before you do, make sure that the bottle is only partially full. We recommend only 3/4 full to allow for expansion of the water as it freezes to ice. Place the bottle in the freezer right side up. Remember: you won’t be able to drink until components have thawed.
Are the Podium Bottle and Podium ChillJacket caps interchangeable? Can I use your caps on my other bottles?
Yes. The Podium, Podium Chill and Podium Ice caps can be interchanged. However the caps are not compatible with bottles from other companies. The Podium Bottle and cap are specifically engineered to provide leak-proof sealing, even after dishwashing—unlike a lot of other bottles on the market.
Does the Podium Bottle fit any bike cage?
Podium, Podium Chill and Podium Ice Bottles are designed to fit almost all cages on the market. For best performance, we recommend using cages designed with a little bit of “give” in them. Cages that fully encircle the bottle with a single loop of material, like the Tacx Tao and Specialized S-Works cages, can have a tighter fit. You can still use the Podium Bottle with these cages, but be aware that the fit will be snug, which could make it tougher to get the bottle in and out, but on the plus side, also less likely to bounce out over bumps.
What materials are used to make the Podium Bottle and cap?
The Podium, Podium Chill and Podium Ice Bottles are made primarily from TruTaste polypropylene, a proprietary blend of polypropylene that is food-safe and taste-free. Compared to ordinary bike bottles which are made of low-density polyethylene that can flavor or distort the taste of your water, a CamelBak TruTaste bottle means your water will taste like it should. The bottle cap is made from polypropylene, with smaller components made of HDPE. Sealing components (nozzle, Jet Valve and o-ring) are made of medical grade silicone.
What is the “Hydroguard” treatment mentioned on the product?
HydroGuard is a CamelBak proprietary antimicrobial technology embedded directly into the bottle walls. HydroGuard is an EPA-registered compound that uses the natural anti-microbial properties of silver metal to inhibit the growth of bacteria that can cause odors, discoloration or deterioration of the bottle. HydroGuard does not protect the user against disease-causing organisms. Always clean the bottle after each use.
What is BPA?
Bisphenol-A is an ingredient used to make polycarbonate and certain other plastics. Recently, there has been increasing consumer demand for a bottles made without Bisphenol-A (BPA). CamelBak is proud to offer all of its bottles in BPA-free materials, including the Podium, Podium Chill, Podium Ice, Better Bottle, Classic Bottle, Performance Bottle and Kids’ Bottle.
What are phthalates (pronounced Thal-ates)?
Phthalates are components added to some plastics, such as vinyl, to make them soft and pliable. CamelBak bottles do not contain phthalates or vinyl components.
Do the Podium or Podium Chill bottles leach any chemicals? What type of safety testing is done?
All of our bottle products receive rigorous 3rd party testing to ensure that no harmful chemicals have come in contact with, or have leached into food/beverage surfaces. Testing is completed to demonstrate compliance with the following US and international standards:
• U.S. FDA (Food and Drug Administration) food safety standards
• European Community food safety standards
• Japanese Ministry of Health and Welfare
How do I clean the bottle?
The Podium Bottle is dishwasher-safe and easy to clean. Simply remove the cap assembly, making sure the JetValve lockout is open, and place it, along with the bottle, on the top rack of your dishwasher. Do not disassemble small parts of the cap—simply place the whole cap into the washer. For best results, we recommend avoiding high-heat settings such as “sanitary clean” or “heat boost which may distort plastic components.
We recommend cleaning the Podium Chill and Podium Ice bottles by hand, using warm water (and soap if desired). High heat from the dishwasher may distort the lightweight plastic bottle components. The Podium Chill and Podium Ice caps can be washed in a dishwasher. For instructions, see above.
Do I need to clean the bottle before first use?
We recommend that you wash the bottle and cap in warm soapy water prior to first use, and rinse thoroughly.
Can I remove the Jet Valve for cleaning?
The JetValve and nozzle should not be removed from the cap for cleaning. The open design of the cap is engineered so that it’s easy to rinse out all the cap components without disassembly. Disassembly of the cap could lead to leaks or product malfunction.
Can I use a bottle brush on the Jet Valve?
To optimize the longevity and performance of the JetValve sealing surfaces, we don’t recommend forcing a brush or any other cleaning tool through the JetValve cross-slit (i.e. where you drink).
